Drachenfutter
Working concept for a humorous iPhone app
"Drachenfutter" (literally "dragon fodder") is a German term for a gift you give someone to soothe his or her anger.
A friend of mine recently complained that she could never figure out what her boyfriend expected her to do when she messed up. After a few cocktails, the idea for this app was born.
It serves two groups of users: people who want to know how to fix things with their partners and folks who want to tell their partners how to remedy a wrong. I've only worked out the first of these two paths so far.
The user selects a category of offense (like "I was late for our dinner"), narrows it down ("I couldn't find parking"), and then gets advice on how to mend fences (just an apology might work in this case).
The nature of the "dragon feed" (what's necessary to set things right) is set by the opposite users -- they can determine how serious they find each offense to be and set the punishment accordingly.
Ideally, a "punishing" user will be able to customize the categories and add more offenses (accessed behind the "Other" menu on the second screen).
